Remember this guy? Sam Fox holds current records accross all stages of Dragon Trail - blitzing the race in 2021 on his home turf. He is a packet of talent ... and just raced in both Mountain Biking and Road Racing and the Commonwealth Games. In the results, Sam was taken out of medal contention in ...the first lap of the XC MTB with a flat through the rock garden. He went on to take out 6th, our first Australian home. We are in awe 👊👊

With entries opening for Dragon Trail next week, it is worth thinking about how you are going to ensure your trusty steed (aka bike) makes it to the end. Below are some interesting metrics from 2022 - direct from some of the hardest workers at the event, the bike mechanic crew from @tune_cycles ...

* 35% of riders used our end of stage services at some stage during the race
* 95.5% of bikes we worked on needed parts during the event
* Shift Cables, Brake Pads & Rotors being the highest unit volume.
* 24 Bikes came through that were unsafe to continue the event, its conservative to assume that these would have been DNF without mechanical support
* There were 2 bikes we couldn’t repair during the event
* One needed a new rear wheel (we’ll have DT Swiss wheel-sets with us next year)
* The other required an obscure derailleur hanger
* 1 frame was cracked which withdrew from the event

If you are headed to the race in 2023 it is worth thinking about purchasing on of Tune Cycles wash and tune packages with your entry. You can learn more here - https://dragontrail.com.au/logistics/bike-maintenance/
